A summary of battle stats (by squad), levels, and additional character abilities can be found HERE.
Character Name: Character's name.
Squad: Select your character's squad. These are pre-assigned for squad leaders.
Squad Position: Select your character's position on the squad. This can be Leader, Second, Member (High/Medium/Low), or Support based on what's available. Leaders and supports are pre-determined and can be found on the Character Roster.
Primary Weapon: Select your character's weapon of choice. Supports may mark this question as N/A.
Combat Style: Outline particular combat skills here, along with their attitude in battle. Are they gung-ho? Do they try to protect their teammates at risk of themselves? Do they try to let others do the heavy lifting? For support characters, this is how they handle their role and how they generally treat their team. Do they worry all the time? Are they quick to point out things, even if they're not a threat? Are they relaxed?
Attribute: Select the attribute that best defines your character's abilities: Strength, Stamina, Speed, or Balance! This will not impact bonuses but it it will impact narrative elements and dungeon navigation.
Persona Name: Please select an available Persona listed under your house.
Persona Appearance: Provide a brief description of your Persona.
Affinity: Select one of the two elements available to your character's house. This is the element that your character will be most proficient in attacking with and defending against. Swords may choose Air or Thunder, Cups may choose Water or Ice, Wands may choose Fire or Lightning, and Coins may choose Earth or Stone.
Weakness: Please select one of the elements not associated with your character's house. This will be the element that does the most damage against your character and their Persona.
Ailment Susceptibility: Select the mental or physical ailment that your character is particularly susceptible to: Poison, Sleep, Mute, Confusion, Enervation, Rage, Fear, Forget, Charm, and Despair. All characters may get all status ailments, but this will be the one most likely to impact the character. Keep in mind that a toned down version of the ailment may, at times, linger with the character for a few days after the initial exposure.
Kodi Hansen
Date: 2018-08-13 12:41 am (UTC)Squad: 5
Squad Position: Second and SALTY ABOUT IT
Primary Weapon: War Scythe
Combat Style: All-out war — her only strategy is a ruthless offense. She has no qualms with going immediately for the dirtier tactics. But now she's on a squad with people to be accountable to and for? And it's hard? She just wants to fuck shit up and make shit right but she's realizing she can't do what she normally does (i.e. go for the throat) and still protect the people close to her? This is a hard balance? Fuck you, Temperance? She has a lot to learn.
Attribute: Strength
Persona Name: Haiyael
Persona Appearance: While Haiyael itself blinds, it's never without a pit beneath it void of both light and air. Its figure is imposing and its height indiscernible, seeming to be nine feet one moment and fifteen the next, always streaming up from the pit it emerges from. One many-jointed arm ends in a sword that seems to be flame and light rather than metal or leather, and another in a shield wrought from aura alone, translucent waves of hot oranges, yellows, whites and blues.
Its face is flat where there should be a nose, and in place of eyes are only pits that stretch through its would-be skull yet don't seem to have an end. Where there should be a mouth are teeth but they never seem to do one thing, moulding to new forms and ends each time you look at them. While its shape is vaguely humanoid, it doesn't seem to have a sex, or indeed armour at all — only light, wrapping around its body in forms that take the shape of breasts one moment and a breastplate the next, never rest for more than a moment. Or at least that's how it seems, because if you look too long you begin to see sunspots.
Affinity: Ice.
Weakness: Stone. (She thinks she's unwavering but no she's just a troubled teen, we'll show her what unwavering REALLY looks like.)
Ailment Susceptibility: Confusion. (She's a control freak and the idea of losing control of not only her faculties and her ability to protect her squad, but also to protect her squad from herself, downright terrifies her.)
Quincey Waller
Date: 2018-08-15 02:38 am (UTC)Squad: 11
Squad Position: Support
Combat Style: Quincey was made to sportscaster some recreational monster-murdering. He's got a pleasant, even voice and he's ready to enthusiastically present some information - he might also present some unrelated information, but he's easy enough to prod back onto the correct path with the right tone of voice. On a good day, he's quick and consistently amused, offering compliments and tidbits of interesting but unnecessary information. He does understand that shutting up is sometimes necessary to allow his team to, y'know, concentrate and not die. He gets this. But he'll also continue merrily narrating the experience to himself while muted.
When things get genuinely dangerous, however, he's fully capable of buckling down. He's been given a job and he takes the job seriously when the job he's been given gets serious. He worries, but he doesn't panic. (Or at least he doesn't panic in a way that anyone can hear.) Because panic is unproductive and panic gets you dead.
Attribute: Speed
Persona Name: Jabamiah
Persona Appearance: Jabamiah's slightly broken. It's limbs are frozen solid, jagged pieces of ice formed in all of the right shapes to be correctly humanoid - sometimes more feminine, sometimes more masculine - but often cracking open around gaps and holes. Pieces of legs or arms or chest cavity often hollowed out or spiking too far outward.
It tends to crackle when it moves, like a frozen lake with too much pressure applied to the surface. And it's parts snap and rearrange themselves each time it shifts. Sometimes detaching fully and reattaching themselves again too-long or too-short or just plain crooked and off-kilter. There's always something slightly off about how Jabamiah moves, not that it seems to notice or to be hindered by the fact.
To allow Quincey to see into the Shadow Realm, Jabamiah provides him with 'tablets' made out of flat sheets of ice. They tend to bleed out onto his fingers a bit if he holds onto them for too long - which is super weird to look at.

Nora Lee
Date: 2018-08-16 12:18 am (UTC)Squad: Squad #3
Squad Position: Second
Primary Weapon: An umbrella with a hidden sword.
Combat Style: Despite her timid nature, Nora is right there on the frontlines when it comes to combat. She doesn't excel in a particular area, instead being a highly versatile combatant that can fill in where needed. Neither a tank nor a brawler, she possesses an array of offensive and defensive capabilities at her disposal. Using her umbrella, she can block, shield, disarm, bludgeon and even pierce. If a situation calls for a more aggressive offensive, the hidden blade inside the shaft of her umbrella allows her to fight with a short one handed sword that can slash and pierce. By default, she favors a defensive offensive. Nora will do whatever she deems necessary to protect her team, including soaking up hits that she isn't actually tanky enough to take. Attribute: Balance
Persona Name: Mumiah
Persona Appearance: Mumiah is a striking figure, both beautiful and alien. Clearly female, a disproportionately large white rabbit head tops an otherwise slender human body dressed in opulent flowing blue and white silk robes in the style once associated with Chinese royalty. Her entire body emits a soft white glow. Mumiah typically rests inside a large floating hoop with a carnival-esque charicature of the moon adorning it. The hoop hangs unassisted in the air and Mumiah rarely sets feet on the ground when she travels with Nora. Mumiah will sometimes throw the hoop at enemies during battle, but most often will materialize an oversized mochi hammer to aide her attacks. [x]

Francesca Salazar
Date: 2018-08-16 03:02 am (UTC)Squad: 1
Squad Position: Second
Primary Weapon: Light Whip (Sort of a combo of and Ivan Vanko a rave whip.)
Combat Style: Ces fights like a hornet. In that her hits are sharp and stinging - not in that they involve her becoming irrationally angry when people accidentally enter into her personal space and she stabs them repeatedly. (She's also small and genuinely enjoys wearing yellow, but that's neither here nor there.) She deals out a decent amount of damage, but she isn't large or particularly solid. Scrappy, yes. A bruiser, no.
She's fast too, but she's definitely a short-distance sprinter. She can't maintain cross-country levels of speed - so she makes up for it with distance. And the ability to hit someone in the face from a distance.
Attribute: Balance (In an ironic twist of fate.)
Persona Name: Yerathel
Persona Appearance: Yerathel is beautiful and statuesque, an inhumanly tall woman with traditionally feminine curves, and Ces loves her. She's perfect. Her skin is blacked out and illuminated in places, bright neons lighting her up in lines and swirls and speckles, and bright wings curling up over her head and trailing behind her. Her colors will often shift and change into different patterns and hues in crackling flashes.

Rose Chapman
Date: 2018-08-17 03:36 am (UTC)Squad: Squad #3
Squad Position: Member (Low)
Primary Weapon: A gunstock war club — a heavy, hardwood, bludgeoning weapon a little shorter than a baseball bat. It has a number of arrowhead-shaped blades embedded in one end and a strap that lets Rose carry it on her back.
Combat Style: Disorgansed. She acts on pure instinct, which can be good because she's vicious and also bad because she's a fucking moron who has no idea what she's doing out here. Basically, she's got courage and raw talent, but absolutely no skills, and her mile-wide anti-authoritarian streak means that that's not gonna change any time soon — at least, not without a leader that really gets her.
Attribute: Speed
Persona Name: Mebahel, the angel of liberty.
Persona Appearance: [ Inspiration ] Smoke & wires, mostly — somewhere between exposed wiring and 3D pen art. Colorful, in some places. Half-finished and liable to give you tetanus. Humanoid, but shapeshifting, unstable, faceless, and the resulting creature gives off strong WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE vibes. It looks dangerous and liable to go boom at any minute.
Affinity: Thunder
Weakness: Stone
Ailment Susceptibility: Confusion
Russell Reeve
Date: 2018-09-02 02:43 am (UTC)Squad: 3
Squad Position: Leader
Primary Weapon: A light up, neon electric guitar axe with rainbow strings.
Combat Style:
Rhythmic, energetic, spirited. Russ fights like he's putting on a show and trying to work up a crowd. He uses a combination of bardic spellcasting and brute force to down enemies and delights in bloodsport.
Russ is far from the type of person one would imagine as a suitable leader, but he does take pride in his role even if he's an unorthodox choice and knows it. He uses laughter and levity to handle stressful and traumatic situations as a way to try to de-escalate and keep up morale. It helps that he's best friends and roommates with his Support and finds it easy to play off Sully's energy. Team Banter plays a big part of his tactics to keep his squad's spirits up despite super scary and dangerous circumstances they find themselves in. It may look like they're just fucking around but he believes that if the kids under him feel more at ease and also feel a sense of kinship with each other, they'll perform better even if they're not perfect.
He's not the type to try to push his squad past their limits, but this doesn't include himself because he WILL keep going until a voice of reason suggests it's time to call it quits. If other members are too proud to know when to stop, he may or may not make the call for them. Once things start getting serious to the point where it's clear that the stakes are high and they're in a very dangerous spot with no wiggle room, the cheerful facade drops and he becomes stony and serious. Less rhythmic, more precise. Less brutish, more calculated. As much as he loves fucking around and having fun with his teammates, he's still responsible for their wellbeing and will try to lead by example.
Attribute: Strength
Persona Name: Reiyel
Persona Appearance:
Bright! Flashy! Larger than life!
Reiyel is fifteen feet tall and outlined in neon lights. Rather than moving fluidly, his animations are shown frame-by-frame and resemble a neon sign. They give a strobe effect when he's moving quickly in battle.
Long demonic horns sprout from his forehead, growing up and out, and the end of his long tail is tipped with a heart. He wears ripped leather pants and high heeled knee-high boots with space motifs on them. Down the center of his bare chest is a large gash that's been loosely stitched over with rainbow guitar strings that match the ones on Russ's weapon. Peering inside of it shows a vast, twinkling void of outer space and it has the ability to project sounds and images. He uses these projections to emote with symbols, display laser party lights, and play music.
The long chains with opened shackles Reiyel wears draped around his body are his primary weapons. He uses them to deal blunt damage and ensnare the foe, dragging them in closer and making it harder to escape. For spellcasting, Reiyel's audio projections also work sort of like a amp with Russ's guitar axe; Russ plays the spell's notes on his guitar and the spell is fired through Reiyel's open chest cavity. (Affectionately(?¿?) referred to by Russ as the "chussy".)

Lillian Armstrong
Date: 2018-09-04 02:32 am (UTC)Squad: 7
Squad Position: Leader
Primary Weapon: Harpoon gun
Combat Style: Lillian doesn’t take naturally to fighting, but she is big on causes and even bigger on protecting people, whether they’re innocent bystanders or her own team members. She will run herself absolutely ragged, and fight to the edge of consciousness.
She isn’t the fastest or the strongest, and her weapon allows for fighting from a distance and reeling enemies in closer when need be. She knows she isn’t best as a close range fighter, but will absolutely take the heat for her team. She’s well aware that she’s probably going to get herself killed, but even if she’s pretty sure of the worst possible outcome, she has no end of encouragements for her squad.

Persona Name: Jeliel
Persona Appearance: Jeliel has an androgynous humanoid shape from the waist up and a piscine shape from the waist down, but just because they cut a somewhat mermaid-like silhouette doesn’t mean they look anything like Ariel. Jeliel’s eyes have the pale, unseeing sheen of something that has lived in the dark so long it has lost its sight. They don’t often open their mouth, but when they do, they reveal rows of thin, wicked teeth. Jeliel’s body is semi translucent, and the bones can be seen beneath, particularly in the eerie light of their bioluminescence that lines their body and wreaths their head. When they attack, the lights brighten and crackle with electricity, throwing their skeleton into stark relief.

Zinnia Howe
Date: 2018-09-21 07:09 pm (UTC)Squad: 2
Squad Position: Member (low)
Primary Weapon: Combat shovel. A long-handled pole topped by a steel spade. One edge is serrated, the other is a blade. It's a pretty brutal looking piece of work.
Combat Style: Zealous. Zinnia's self-conscious about being the least skilled member on her team, and as a result she's a bit of a try-hard. She desperately wants to impress her squad mates and earn her place among them. She's not reckless to the point of disobedience, but she does tend to overextend herself and try things over her skill level. Zinnia's bold, brave, and ready to do whatever it takes.
What Zinnia has in her favor is that she's tough and stubborn as hell. She can take a hit and just keep going, and has a deep-seated instinct to protect people. She uses her shovel to block attacks meant for others, and by sheer force of will can shrug off blows some people might be floored by. She's tenacious and absolutely ready to play hero. Zinnia is particularly eager to follow Dustin's instincts and style, since their ideals often line up.
Attribute: Stamina
Persona Name: Menadel, Angel of Work, can remedy exhaustion, coldness and isolation, cure those who seek glory and success at any cost.
Persona Appearance: Menadel is not the most imposing persona, only about 6' tall if she were to leave her seated position. She sits recumbent on a throne of red velvet and bones that crawls as though alive. Menadel herself has the appearance of a long dead, drying corpse, like a dedicated saint laid to rest in glory. Some parts of her retain the skin (like the tight browning leather over her hands), while others are bare bones. Her skeletal face is covered by a gauzy veil, and she's crowned with luxurious hair ornaments and a golden halo. Her gray hair pours out from under it in waves that match Zinnia's own hairstyle. Every inch of Menadel is adorned in gold and jewels, so when she moves you hear the jingle and rustle of clinking metal. She wears a breast plate with a large heart shaped hole in it, exposing her ribs, which are also covered in jewels. Deep in her chest cavity, there's something glowing, presumably her heart. She's covered in dust and cobwebs, and smells like vanilla and incense.
Menadel seems gentle-natured, and often reaches out as though to touch Zinnia's hair (... or that of her squad mates) soothingly. She only strikes with magic by pointing a ring-covered finger at the enemy, which often causes the ground beneath them to open up, like a grave. When she attacks, the heart glowing inside her becomes momentarily blinding. (References: x)

Selby Denman
Date: 2018-09-23 01:48 am (UTC)Squad: 7
Squad Position: Member (Low)
Primary Weapon: Bow & Arrows
Combat Style: Selby isn't a natural combatant; he doesn't have the nerve to charge into the middle of a battle and he doesn't have an iota of killer instinct. He is, however, a loyal and obedient teammate, a protective friend, and an excellent shot (both with his bow and through his Persona). While he'll never be a heavy hitter, he can deal reliable and consistent damage from a distance, draw attention away from his teammates when needed (nothing like an arrow to the eye to change an enemy's focus), and generally help to control movement on the battlefield. He's decent at these strategies himself, but he's particularly adept in the hands of a capable leader and will follow orders thoroughly and completely.
Unfortunately, he struggles when he has to face a Shadow up close and personal. While he no longer freezes up the way he used to last year and he's learned a few basic defensive maneuvers with his bow to hold back the weaker ones, he almost always ends up getting hurt in such situations.
Attribute: Balance
Persona Name: Achaiah
Persona Appearance: Achaiah is a lithe, willowy figure draped in a voluminous white cloak that obscures its body almost entirely from view from neck to knees. The bottom of this garment is lined with a vibrant pattern of gold flowers that are constantly shifting and blooming and growing in different directions, while the top closes in a neat collar around its throat. When it's still, there seems to be no break in the cloak at all, though moments of action will prove this isn't the case, revealing a white-clad figure beneath. Its face, stoic and dark gray like stone or ash, is obscured by a partial mask of bright gold with intricate floral designs, two small antler-like horns, and no openings for eyes, though this doesn't seem to bother the entity. Neither does the golden arrow that's been shot directly through its neck, from which blood and bright flowers both spring.
When Achaiah casts magic, a halo of flowers blooms in the air around it and scatters apart in a shower of petals when the spell is executed. It can be quite beautiful. If Selby runs out of arrows during the course of battle, it can also be relied upon to conjure new (and unconventional) projectiles for him that work surprisingly well.
Despite its unusual appearance, Achaiah is a soothing presence and a faint floral scent hangs in the air around it.

Sabrina Lane
Date: 2018-09-25 05:52 pm (UTC)Squad: 10
Squad Position: Leader
Primary Weapon: Warhammer
Combat Style:
Sabrina is a decisive leader, and a precise fighter. Even when she’s at a loss or she’s in over her head, Sabrina likes to be the one to make the decision, to be in control of the situation. Luckily, Sabrina is rarely at a loss, because she plans way too far in advance, and treats every training or exploration like a chess game. Strategy is her strong suit, improvisation is, uh, kind of not, so she plans for every contingency, tries to anticipate every single thing that could go wrong, right, or sideways in the weirdest of ways. She can be stubborn about changing the plan, and struggles to not take it personally when she’s forced to make an adjustment. She knows that making changes on the fly is something she is objectively Not Great at, and lives in constant fear of making some real dumbass moves in the field—something she’s liable to do if asked to improvise.
In actual combat, she is ruthless and efficient. She values quick, effective kills over style, and has very little tolerance for showing off. A strong girl with a big hammer, she does strength training and target practice incessantly, and charges into a fight with an air of real confidence. The truth is, Sabrina will often run a quick cost-benefit analysis in her head, and often finds that dealing with a couple small injuries herself is worth it if she gets the kill. She’s very protective of her squad, and wants to save them from ever getting hurt, but is also full of praise for anyone that shows bravery without getting themselves almost killed.
Her leadership style is tough at times, she expects a lot of training and exercise and dedication, and she really doesn’t know how to handle people on a one-on-one basis, but she clearly has affection for her squad. While it’s difficult for her to show it sometimes, she appreciates everything they do and every time they fail to achieve death.
Attribute: Balance
Persona Name: Haheuiah
Persona Appearance:
Haheuiah is a tall, thin figure—too thin, too tall, with limbs that look like they've been stretched in a taffy machine. The pale blue being moves as if it's floating, unhurried unless there's danger. The body itself seems to be made of another material: it's lumpy in places, the arms are twisted and imperfect, and a closer inspection might show that the skin or clothing is flaking or peeling off. Beneath the outer layer, it looks like paper, covered in handwritten notes, as if Haheuiah itself is made of papier-mâché.
On the face is a mask, much smoother than the rest of the body. It's blank, white, like porcelain, but the surface is marred by two long, jagged gashes where the eyes should be. Behind the cracks, more of that papier-mâché can be seen, but you would have to get real close to see it.
When using an attack, Haheuiah swings its arms around with reckless abandon. The placid, unhurried pace turns into a whirlwind of activity, but only for a brief moment. When it's over, the calm exterior returns, like nothing weird happened at all.

Ulrich Roth
Date: 2018-09-28 09:07 pm (UTC)Squad: 10
Squad Position: Medium
Primary Weapon: A double-ended drill lance and shield. Yes, it can actually whirl. It's very extra. (The first weapon he tried was the Cloud Strife Buster Sword that Irene had tossed into the weapons pile as a joke.)
Combat Style: Business in the front, party in the back. While Richie's very good at following gameplans, doesn't talk back, and treats dire situations with the appropriate gravity, if the flow of battle is clearly going in his squad's favor, he's prone to "Hey, Watch This!" moments of attempting to pull off flashy stunts that he's convinced will look totally badass.
Things that may or may not actually look badass and have questionable success rates include: trying to get Mitzrael to toss him into the middle of combat, trying to jump onto the back of a suitably large Shadow and ride it, and trying to ride Mitzrael and live up to his namesake via attempted crab jousting.
When fighting in earnest, Richie generally fills a protector role in combat, using his large shield to soak up blows or provide cover for others, willing to sacrifice his own body if it means keeping a teammate safe. With its extra reach, he can also use his lance to keep enemies at a distance or use it more aggressively for a proper stabbiness.
Notably, despite his obvious physical strength, Richie has a tendency to hold back on using it to its fullest potential.
Attribute: Stamina
Persona Name: Mitzrael
Persona Appearance: Mitzrael is a heroic yet whimsical Persona, evoking the imagery of a knight atop its noble steed conjured up by someone during a fever dream. The tall romantic figure of legends has been replaced with a still impressively armored, but squat and rotund frog (or is it a toad?) and the traditional white stallion has been eschewed in favor of a gigantic carbonized black crab. Glowing cracks and fissures spread throughout the crab's body and closer inspection of its face reveals that what looks to be a set of teeth is actually the front grill plate of a pot belly stove and the crab itself is apparently an automaton powered by burning coal. This isn't the only oddity about this immense crustacean as the pincers of its front claws are actually extremely large drill bits. [x]
When summoned, Mitzrael bursts forth from the ground as if it had just finished excavating its path of escape from the earth's core and when it attacks, it charges full tilt at its target, leaving a path of carbonized gemstones in its wake.

Merry Rhydderch
Date: 2018-09-29 08:32 am (UTC)Squad: 10
Squad Position: Support
Primary Weapon: N/A
Combat Style: All things are puzzles to Meredith. Analytical, intelligent, and excellent at multi-tasking, very little in the Shadow World escapes her careful notice. Her primary strength as a Support is splitting her attention, and she's comfortable switching her focus between all of her squadmates and several shadows without confusion. A problem-solver by nature, she is capable of coming up with creative solutions at a moment's notice.
On the other hand, she thinks faster than she can talk, and frequently has difficultly communicating effectively with her squadmates. Others not being able to think ten steps ahead like she does frustrates her, and she quickly becomes irritated when her teammates aren't doing what she thinks they should be doing.
In general, she much prefers exploring the shadow world to actual combat. Her knack for spatial thinking and spotting unlikely paths makes her a perfect eye in the sky for her squad when they're not acting under time pressure and the stakes are relatively lower.
Attribute: Stamina
Persona Name: Leuviah, angel of Expansive Intellect
Persona Appearance: Belying Meredith's vain perception of her squadmates as game pieces, her persona takes the form of a puppet master. A tall figure enshrouded in pale, gauzey finery wrapped up with red string, it will sometimes free a couple sets of hands to reach out and manipulate the world around it. Most often, the hands are all tied up in an impossibly complex game of Cat's Cradle, but sometimes the strings will hang loose as if waiting for a puppet to ensnare.
When she's seeing through Leuviah, it gently covers her eyes with its smallest hands from behind, as if to shield her from unpleasant or untoward sights. Instead, this grants her vision into the Shadow World.

clarissa day
Date: 2018-09-30 01:35 am (UTC)Squad: 12
Squad Position: Member | Medium
Primary Weapon: Crowbar
Combat Style: CC is here to deal damage. Years of tennis have given her good reflexes that are useful, but more than that she can hit very hard and very fast. Overall behavior in combat reflects this; while a poor general tactician, CC tends to do best when thinking about fighting shadows as a high-stakes contact sport, bouncing around as if anticipating someone's serve (and maybe literally imagining this is the case, tbh). The issue with this is burning out quickly; CC can stay in things at high performance for a while, but she's slightly more of a sprinter than a long distance performer and can tire herself out if she isn't careful. Nanael fills in these gaps for her with magic.
As a teammate, Clarissa has a can-do attitude and a willing, gregarious yet mothering presence. Other squad members are on her team and she wants both to protect them and see them do well. An aspect where she could do better, as always, is with attention; CC's the type to listen intently to plans or directions, absolutely intend to follow them, then completely forget or remember only halfway. Thankfully, her general confidence and imagination boost an ability to improvise. When cornered or overwhelmed, CC drops all pretense of finesse or training -- she kicks, slaps, throws elbows, gouges with nails. Once in a while she's been known to lower her shoulder and simply charge.
Attribute: Strength
Persona Name: Nanael
Persona Appearance: When summoned, Nanael manifests as a female figure clothed in stark white formal pseudo-Victorian finery: corset, bustle, intricate beading and feathers, lace, a crown-like fascinator. She is striking and ghostly, all shades of ivory and snow save for glowing eyes and a lipstick-mussed red mouth.
As battle or exploration proceeds, the persona takes on swirls and accents of lush deep crimson, as if with ruby accessory or hot blood blooming beneath fabric or skin.
Nanael’s magic manifests in dangerous spheres and circles of flame, with occasional magma-like emissions that pour from her throat and mouth.

Luke Pokorny

Squad Position: Low-level
Primary Weapon: An urumi, a flexible sword brandished like a whip, and a small circular shield.
Combat Style: Defensive. Tries to anticipate opponents' moves and delay them, or even cancel them, and is more concerned with his wellbeing and that of the people around him, than with whether or not they've won. Thaaaat being said, he's spent a lot of time reading books about Heroes and he would... totally try to sacrifice himself for the greater good, because he is dumb.

Persona Name: Manakel
Persona Appearance: Luke describes Manakel as "Angel Abe," as in "Abe Sapien," as in "noted Hellboy fish-dude." He's tall and admittedly fish-like with mottled, scaly blue-green skin; large slitted gills along his neck; and webs between fingers, toes, arms, and torso. Lines of barnacles trail in spines down his back. His mouth can open unnaturally wide and when he does so, you can see four series of sharp, pointed teeth lining inside. [sorta reference]

The flowers covering Cahetel's invisible skin constantly bloom and change colours, in bright rainbow jewel tones. Petals fall liberally from her body when she moves. When damaged by an enemy, Cahetel shows injury by having flowers brown and die off. New flowers will always appear to fill in gaps and maintain the Persona's shape.
Beside Cahetel floats a carnival-style wheel of fortune ( see HERE for a shitty rendering ) that is made of mirrored panels: a pentagram in the center, and panels around the edge with symbols representing different battle actions. Whenever Tal takes action in battle, Cahetel spins the wheel, although she'll often "cheat" by bumping or nudging the wheel so the selected panel matches what Tal wants to do. Cahetel is 7-8 feet tall, and her wheel is 10 feet tall.

Hamsi Khan
Date: 2018-10-02 01:05 am (UTC)Squad: 10
Squad Position: Med
Primary Weapon: Blunderbuss
Combat Style: Hamsi is an agile mid-range fighter unafraid to launch herself into the front lines. Sure, the blunderbuss has a better spread from a few paces back but nothing sends a message to the shadow world like buckshot to the face and a shotgun butt to the gut. Hammy's showy in combat, her style quick and mobile, incorporating almost dancelike moves. Her primary goal is to be distracting and then disorienting to foes who choose her as their target. She never sticks in one place for long - in and out and moving around constantly.
Attribute: Speed
Persona Name: Mehiel
Persona Appearance:
When summoned, Mehiel descends from nowhere on an old fashioned rope swing. Upon her perch, she is beautiful. A young woman in soft pastels, her dress opulent, detailed, massive, the skirts practically swallowing her up, her head...tucked under her arm.
Mehiel's distinctly Rococo style and distinct headlessness (complete with rather gory neckline) certainly call up the image of Marie Antoinette. Which is appropriate, because the lavishly dressed persona is clearly made out of sweets. Her skin and dress are fondant. Her powdered wig is made from spun sugar, adorned with buttercream flowers and marzipan birds. The "wound" at her neck is lined with raspberry jam, the insides clearly angel food cake.
Mehiel swings herself at enemies when attacking. When using magical abilities, she twirls up the ropes of her swing and spins out, unleashing ferocious gusts of wind.

Petra Warren-Yates
Date: 2018-10-02 04:29 pm (UTC)Squad: V
Squad Position Member (Low Level)
Primary Weapon: An underwater rifle. Petra's is nearly indistinguishable from a normal rifle, except, of course, in that it can fire underwater. As is common to amphibious firearms, it shoots tiny flechettes instead of bullets which make a distinctive buzzing sound when fired.
Combat Style: Strong, steady, and dependable — until the exact moment when she's not. Petra brings her sharpshooting skills to the battlefield, where she can be trusted to strike any reasonable target (and a few unreasonable ones, too) with precision and accuracy, and although she's not carrying a sniper, she likes the challenge of shooting from a great distance or odd angles.
Cheerful in the face of danger, while Petra has no intention of taking unnecessary risks, she also isn't one to flee from a fight. She'll hold her position even as the tides turn against her, making her a valuable defensive asset if others need to beat a hasty retreat. Unfortunately, that same trait can make her difficult to work with in chaotic situations — while she's happy to follow someone's instructions if they explain what to do and why, she never follows orders blindly, and will blatantly break rank if she disagrees with her leaders. Thankfully, that hasn't happened too often... yet.
Attribute: Balance
Persona Name: Harahel — angel of abundance, productivity, and practical intelligence
Persona Appearance: Harahel takes the form of, well, an angel. She's a cemetery statue, a beautiful woman with long feathered wings, made of a strange white rock that looks like marble, if marble had the rough, porous texture of old concrete. Her edges are chipped and her features are slowly wearing away — not just from the power of time alone (although she does appear surprisingly ancient), but also because she's being slowly subsumed by the earth.
Moss is growing over its right side, and creeping vines, moonflower and ivy, wrap its way around her base, her arms, her hands. Sometimes, the plants bloom — trumpet blossoms, usually. There are cracks in the stone where roots have taken hold, and inside those crumbling spaces you can see the warm, red-white-gold glow of citrine and quartz geodes.
Occasionally, when you look at her, it seems as though, perhaps, the vines are carved from crystal and rock, and the broken spaces are filled with flowers. Petra's not sure what that means, but it makes her feel very strange to look at it, and she's always relieved when it goes back to normal after a few good blinks.

Shiloh Sadler
Date: 2018-10-04 02:32 am (UTC)Squad: Squad 12
Squad Position: Member
Primary Weapon: Slingshot
Combat Style: Shiloh is not brave, but he does his best because he knows his team is counting on him, and because he knows being moderately brave, at least, might save his skin. He keeps as much distance as he can between himself and his targets, given that he has a slingshot as his weapon, and even though he's not a hard hitter he's a precise one. He's an attentive person, so he's generally quite aware of his surroundings, even in the middle of a fight. He takes directions well, though he may hesitate if a lot is asked of him.
Shiloh carries a (neon green) fanny pack on his hip filled with musket balls that he generally shoots from his slingshot. There's some other random junk in there - a paintball, a smoke bomb, a stink bomb, some rocks, some marbles. If he runs out, he can shoot almost anything that's small enough from it, including arrows.
Attribute: Balance
Persona Name: Laviah
Persona Appearance: Laviah is a strange Persona, in that it's fairly small - maybe six and a half feet tall at most. It looks similar to fortune telling machines found in arcades - like Zoltar - but the humanoid inside is simply a black, slightly amorphous figure covered completely in neon colored glowing eyes, the most prominent of which is a 'third eye' in the middle of its forehead. There's no glass on its black case, which glows in a faint rotation of neon colors, and when it attacks all the eyes across its body open wide as a concussive blast of thunder bursts from it.
Honestly, Shiloh's Persona kind of creeps him out.

Mason Chambers
Date: 2018-10-05 01:24 am (UTC)Squad: 4
Squad Position: Member | Low Level
Primary Weapon: Crossbow
Combat Style: In a fight, Mason is methodical. He wants to take stock of the scene, absorb what the support has to tell them, and consider the best course of action. He always wants to line up the perfect shot or use the perfect spell or ability at just the right time.
The plus side is that Mason isn’t prone to making mistakes, and he’s a crack shot with both magic and his weapon. He is particularly careful not to catch his squad mates in friendly fire. The downside is that he can be too slow to act, particularly during fast paced fights that won’t slow down for him analyze.
Mason tends to favor attacking with magic and with his persona, and he is least confident in a hand to hand fight. He has certainly improved since starting off as a freshman, but he still won’t last long if a shadow forces him into a physical fight.

Persona Name: Eyael
Persona Appearance: Eyael is tall, even for a persona, with an androgynous shape. They have a metallic sheen and a sectional, ball joined body that looks like a drawing mannequin or some sort of robot. Eyael’s head is in the clouds - literally. Their entire head is surrounded by thick, shifting storm clouds that never reveal a face. Long, crystalline streams of water surround the persona, looking almost like the bars of a cage.

Slade Winchester
Date: 2018-10-05 03:57 am (UTC)Squad: 10
Squad Position: Second
Primary Weapon: Hurlbats (he carries 2!)
Combat Style: Slade doesn't have a logical base for any of this, and he never has a plan. This means his impulsive flip side is exposed a lot, and honestly that's a good thing. He flourishes in the corners of fights. He's the one coming in for a kill when the creatures are distracted by someone in front of them. He sneaks behind shadows, if he can, and will always try to get the drop on one if it means he doesn't have to fight them face to face. And he does all that with more brute force than clean precision. He knows he's likely to not get a second chance.
Second is actually a good position for him to be in. He's much more comfortable following and executing someone else's orders. But he's the most enthusiastic about it, and encourages everyone else. In the battle, he's at people's shoulders, yelling to encourage them, and fighting off the threat himself. It's the least he can do. He fills in the blanks. When the tactics clearly aren't working, he doesn't correct anyone. He just makes it possible.
Attribute: Strength
Persona Name:Hahasiah; angel of healing
Persona Appearance: The angel of healing takes on a bit of a different appearance in Hahasiah. It's a massive, rotting hulk-sized zombie creature that seems like it would smell really bad, if shadows could smell. It's dressed in white, biblical robes. Bald on one side, long, flowing hair on the other. The facial features are constantly changing with the ever-rotating scar tissue and skin that makes up his features. Hahasiah takes damage cast by shadows dramatically. Patches of his skin slough off into the ether, leaving behind angry red welts. But they patch over. It leaves behind something ever-growing, if grotesque. He hulks over Slade, stomping his feet, and in every stomp there is lightning.

Cecilia Blackwell
Date: 2018-10-24 12:41 am (UTC)Squad: #12
Squad Position: Medium Level
Primary Weapon: Baseball bat
Combat Style: Like her leader, Cecilia plans heavily before combat. She gets nervous when there isn't a game plan laid out and will drag her feet until the group has discussed. She's not afraid to be stubborn and insist on talking things out before advancing—though that's rarely a problem for Squad 12.
Once she knows her role, she launches into action and will plow through opponents with wild abandon. For someone so slight, she can deal powerful blows. Frankly, she's a little bloodthirsty. More impressively, she can take a beating and soldier on. Cecilia won't stop until she's more or less incapacitated.
Attribute: Stamina
Persona Name: Asaliah
Persona Appearance: When Asaliah manifests, they pour into their form like a deluge of dark water into a mold. That cast takes the rough shape of a minotaur with massive, towering golden horns. The water that makes up their body is always flowing like a waterfall. At rest, Asaliah's torso is distinct and has a slightly feminine quality, dense but lithe. When agitated, Asaliah will swell and crash like a tidal wave, making their body nearly formless.

Gregory de Leon
Date: 2018-11-16 08:58 am (UTC)Squad: 3
Squad Position: Medium Level
Primary Weapon: Scythe
Combat Style: What Gregory may lack in prototypical athleticism, he makes up for with his competency with his weapon. He's very adept at wielding his scythe. He's not the most aggressive person, but he's excellent at taking direction. Gregory doesn't want to let anyone down, so tell him what to do and he'll do it. But, if you don't tell him what to do -- even if you think it's obvious -- and he's left to follow his own instincts, his squad may be in trouble.
Although it rarely comes out, Gregory does have a temper. The protectiveness he's traditionally felt for his mom now extends to his squad members and (in particular) his persona. Gregory is (too) kind and (too often) gives people the benefit of the doubt, but if the shadows threaten his loved ones, look out.
Attribute: Balance
Persona Name: Melahel
Persona Appearance: A bipedal mountain lion, Melahel stands seven feet tall. She wears a traditional Guatemalan dress that is breathable and allows for easy movement (like the woman on the left). Melahel is efficient in her movements. She'll stand beside Gregory, placidly scanning for danger, until it's time to strike. And when that time comes, her composed, regal air disappears and is replaced with a sudden ferocity; her claws and teeth are out immediately. Although she most often stands on two legs, she will drop to all four when she needs to cover a lot of ground quickly. As soon as a foe is defeated or a threat is neutralized, she's quick to return to Gregory's side and resume her sentry position.

Pansy Tipton
Date: 2018-12-21 11:07 pm (UTC)Squad: 9
Squad Position: Leader
Primary Weapon: Mabele (a hybrid knife-axe)
Combat Style: Pansy is a leader who is in the action. On the front lines. She deftly wields her weapon, parrying attacks and seamlessly transitioning them into strikes of her own. She fights like she plays basketball: in constant motion. She’s strong and unafraid. And she expects nothing less from those around her.
She will protect her other squad members when need be, but she knows that isn’t a winning strategy on its own. Everyone needs to contribute and hold their own. Everyone has a role to perform and a reason they’re here. She has no problem delegating responsibility and giving orders. But she does have a problem with them not being executed properly. The stakes are too high for people to be fucking up. Do your job or sit on the bench (metaphorically speaking).
Attribute: Strength
Persona Name: Caliel
Persona Appearance: Caliel appears as a giant horned buffalo, covered in a red paint-like substance that constantly drips off its body. Despite its size, Caliel can easily launch its large frame to great heights and then come crashing down. Caliel is constantly agitated, either pacing around and behind Pansy, or sprinting in one direction before turning around and rushing back. Its eyes always darting around, looking for whatever has pissed it off. It’ll spear its foes with its horns, leaving behind a wound and streaks of the red substance that coats its body. Caliel has little regard for its surroundings. It has an abnormally long tail that it will whip around. And it enjoys rearing back on its hind legs, letting out a thunderous roar, and then landing back on all fours, stomping on the ground. Caliel is not one for subtlety.

Lyle Hemmings
Date: 2018-12-27 03:11 am (UTC)Squad: Five
Squad Position: Member; Medium
Primary Weapon: Darts. They're tiny and unassuming, but they're steel and sharpened to strong, deadly tips. Lyle throws them, and he has a better eye than he'd thought.
Combat Style: Lyle doesn't actually love combat, so getting along with Squad Five, many of whom are very strong and talented isn't an automatic fit. He lets most other people have the glory. He considers himself mostly there as a supporting role. He won't ever win a bravery contest or kill count. He likes to sneak near (but to be fair, not exactly AT) the back, and throw his darts where they're most helpful to another teammate. Though he does follow orders very well (he figures leaders were put there for a reason,) he has a decent eye for positioning himself where it would be most strategically advantageous, and does so without asking all of the time, with mixed results. If he miscalculates, he's at least usually quick enough to duck out of the way.
Lyle doesn't rush in to situations, but he doesn't like to be seen as hesitant either, so he generally will wait for exactly one other person to make a reckless or bold decision, and then follow them as support. When he needs a heavy amount of damage, he prefers to use magical attacks.
Attribute: Speed; as in getting to the most logical position and/or darting in and out of the way a lot.
Persona Name:Hahahel; angel of generosity or the Trinity depending on who you ask
Persona Appearance: Hahahel stands about 8 feet tall behind Lyle, a series of charcoal line drawings and dripping ink come to life. They look like someone's animated scribbles, and their features flicker in and out of focus. Hahahel never appears in color. Their dark cloak is cloudy, but always night-black. During attacks, Hahahel reaches their hands out and black ink drips out on to the ground. Their face is always pale and vampiric, even when they don't clearly have a nose or mouth sometimes. There are always fangs, the clearest part of Hahahel, also dripping black. Lyle thinks his persona is maybe the scariest thing in the world and he tries not to think about the meaning too much.

Josephine Linville
Date: 2018-12-27 07:15 am (UTC)Squad: 4
Squad Position: Member
Primary Weapon: Flail
Combat Style: Josephine is sure of herself. Even if things are scary, or seem overwhelming, she has faith in herself to be tough, and faith in herself to get through it. This doesn't mean she rushes in without thinking, but it does mean that even when the odds look bad, she'll do what she thinks she has to without hesitation. Josephine is generally very good at taking instructions, unless she's got it in her head that she really knows what needs to be done. In that case... sorry, Flint. She often rolls up to the Shadow World with heelies on because rollerblades just aren't practical :(
A flail is obviously not something that a 15 year old girl has any practice with, but she did dabble in some ribbon dancing for fun at one point in her life, and she just sort of treats it like that. Even though it's definitely not that.
Attribute: Speed
Persona Name: Lelahel
Persona Appearance: Lelahel is a tall, androgynous humanoid Persona, with a figure that's constantly shifting very slightly on its surface, like roiling clouds held inside of a transparent shell. In fact, that's what its skin generally looks like, with small flashes of light like lightning deep inside of storm clouds. Its eyes, the only facial features it has, look like two bright north stars set in a smooth face with a sharp jawline. Dark, wavy hair tumbles down its back, with small pinpricks of starlight scattered throughout and white plumeria tucked behind its ear. It wears a loose, gauzy white piece of clothing that pretty much looks like a coverup and that's virtually transparent, showing its slim, dark, tumultuous figure underneath fairly clearly. If it's quiet enough, you can hear that Lelahel sounds like a rain shower when it moves.
