BATTLE STATS

A significant part of life at Finchwood Academy revolves around honing one's Persona and preparing to do battle with the otherworldly Shadows. Fill out the form below to help the mods out and give everyone the details of your character's combat style and their other self!

Responses are screened until the mods approve the character. This must be done, along with the Application before a character will be accepted.

A summary of battle stats (by squad), levels, and additional character abilities can be found HERE.



    Character Name: Character's name.

    Squad: Select your character's squad. These are pre-assigned for squad leaders.
    Squad Position: Select your character's position on the squad. This can be Leader, Second, Member (High/Medium/Low), or Support based on what's available. Leaders and supports are pre-determined and can be found on the Character Roster.
    Primary Weapon: Select your character's weapon of choice. Supports may mark this question as N/A.
    Combat Style: Outline particular combat skills here, along with their attitude in battle. Are they gung-ho? Do they try to protect their teammates at risk of themselves? Do they try to let others do the heavy lifting? For support characters, this is how they handle their role and how they generally treat their team. Do they worry all the time? Are they quick to point out things, even if they're not a threat? Are they relaxed?

    Attribute: Select the attribute that best defines your character's abilities: Strength, Stamina, Speed, or Balance! This will not impact bonuses but it it will impact narrative elements and dungeon navigation.

    Persona Name: Please select an available Persona listed under your house.
    Persona Appearance: Provide a brief description of your Persona.
    Affinity: Select one of the two elements available to your character's house. This is the element that your character will be most proficient in attacking with and defending against. Swords may choose Air or Thunder, Cups may choose Water or Ice, Wands may choose Fire or Lightning, and Coins may choose Earth or Stone.
    Weakness: Please select one of the elements not associated with your character's house. This will be the element that does the most damage against your character and their Persona.
    Ailment Susceptibility: Select the mental or physical ailment that your character is particularly susceptible to: Poison, Sleep, Mute, Confusion, Enervation, Rage, Fear, Forget, Charm, and Despair. All characters may get all status ailments, but this will be the one most likely to impact the character. Keep in mind that a toned down version of the ailment may, at times, linger with the character for a few days after the initial exposure.

Combat Style:
Exceedingly calm and methodical. Lucille always assumes victory will be achieved, and lends a mixture of cold confidence and calculated risk-taking to her support. She's a bit like having a robot feed you statistics and updates, if that robot were also keen to see you kill something in a badass way. Don't take too long to do it, though. And stop showing off.

Lucy takes her role very seriously. Squadmates will find that she's far more understanding and supportive in battle than she is in "real life," even offering words of encouragement. She keeps them, their styles and preferences in mind at all times, and uses skills of perception usually relegated to judging people to keep things moving, yet meticulously strategized. Combat is a place where she feels purposeful, like a functional person, and it shows.

Persona Name: Yeialel.
Persona Appearance:
Yeialel is the angel of mental force. As Lucy's persona, it appears in the aesthetic middle of what makes her feel forceful and confident, which appears to be... an unknowable, untouchable enigma. With the suggestion of divinatory revelation and occult Visions. And the look of an expensive keepsake, maybe. Plus the muscles of a marble idol.

Yeialel manifests as a male figure: a ten foot tall abstraction of the mythological figure of Atlas, robed in shifting patterns, and then the "world" he carries, which is essentially a crystal ball: sometimes clear, sometimes misty or opaque. The color and comparable appearance changes and shifts at a constant rate, but only within the spectrum of natural minerals and gemstones. In essence, it always looks of earth, like a perfect sphere that just emerged from the soil or a mountainside somewhere, though it clearly isn't. This compliments Yeialel's statue-like appearance.

Yeialel carries the crystal ball on his shoulders, rolls it in front of him, or even just cradles it in the palm of a hand. Somewhat abstractly, the ball can also grow to absorb Yeialel's "body" whole for defensive maneuvering, to float, or to travel quickly from one area to another.

As a support, Lucy receives information from Yeialel from the perspective of the sphere as it shrinks or expands -- it's impossible to describe, but she often "sees" what she needs to know as if viewing it from somewhere within, as though viewing a projection on its inner curve. When receiving from Yeialel, Lucy appears in a trance.

Combat Style:
While it's not necessarily what he wants to be doing, Liam most benefits his squad when he's hanging back. It gives him space to see the field, to think, to strategize, to summon his persona and fling all the powerhouse magical spells he's capable of. His priority in a fight is always to minimize the damage his own squad takes, which means that sometimes his (considerable) raw damage potential gets shelved in favor of intercepting an attack meant for a companion, or using the terrain in a particular way to give them an advantage over shadows. Liam understands the basic MMORPG concept of killing fast being the most efficient way to win, but he also knows that in actual combat situations, that's not always realistic.

Make no mistake, Liam is a mage. He knows how to scrap, but he's not built to get whaled on by shadows and his physical blows don't pack the punch of his magical abilities. In close combat, he uses his shield to block hits and reinforce punches, but predominantly relies on kicks to do damage, because his long legs allow him to maintain more distance. He employs techniques from several different martial arts styles including savate (mainly), tae kwon do and muay thai. What he's far more likely to do if he can't use magic is stay back a bit and fling his shield like a frisbee. He's pretty decent at getting the shield to bounce back to him, but it's kind of touch and go. That's right, this asshole is trying to be Captain America. Go ahead and make fun of him for it.

Persona: Hahaiah (Angel of Refuge and Shelter)
Persona Appearance: Hahaiah manifests as a massive skeletal wolf - or, rather, half-wolf, half-man. Its whole form twisted through with ivy, overgrown with moss and covered in white and pink-tinged cereus blossoms. This foliage is densest on the limbs, shoulders and shanks, where it resembles a wolf's shaggy coat. It is only through the chest and skull that bone is exposed. Inside the chest cavity, bouquets of flowers leave the impression of lungs, a heart and other internal organs.

Hahaiah is strange, beautiful and horrible, green life reclaiming and reanimating death. The stuff of strange dreams, if not nightmares, outright. Despite its unnerving appearance, Hahaiah's movements are kind and playful, more like a faithful puppy companion than the feral werewolf it resembles - lots of zoomies and butt wiggles, I'm not even kidding. When called to do magic, she sprouts new buds across her body and they bloom. This is usually accompanied by a very anime-esque gust of flower petals. Liam finds this all terribly, terribly embarrassing, I promise.

NAME: Flint Chambers
SQUAD: 4
SQUAD POSITION: Leader
PRIMARY WEAPON: Katar, or punch dagger. Flint always carries two of them into battle, and can fight with just one katar, or one katar on each hand.
COMBAT STYLE:
100% front-line fighter. Although already trained in kickboxing, Flint opted for the katar since he found piercing/slicing more efficient than bludgeoning. His primary goal in any battle is to draw the attention of the enemy so they stay off his team. If he can't immediately go for weak points, he'll hit Shadows with the goal of infuriating them. He does his best to be the "biggest target" and maneuver the Shadow around so they'll leave their blind sides open to the rest of the squad.

He's unafraid of getting hurt, and would rather be the one who gets beat up than let his team take any damage. He has tremendous muscular endurance thanks to kickboxing, and will always push himself to the limit for his squad. He's focused and no-nonsense in battle. This is no time to show off, for him or for anyone else, since that's when stupid mistakes happen. It's a serious concern for him, as Flint often risks getting too caught up in the fight and can make reckless moves in the name of finishing a battle quickly, i.e. going full offensive when they're outmatched or at a disadvantage, if he thinks the enemy is close to death, instead of taking extra time to heal up and wait them out.

As such, he relies a lot on his support to watch the team, because he can't do it himself when he's fighting up close. He needs his support to be able to stay objective, and relies on them and on his second to know when to pull everyone back. (Unfortunately, his second and his support aren't always the best choices for this...)


ATTRIBUTE: Stamina

PERSONA NAME: Lehahiah (Angel of Obedience)
PERSONA APPEARANCE:
Lehahiah's default form is a muzzled beast-king, hunched and chained like he's been defeated. When Flint uses a special attack, the beast-king breaks free, and for a few seconds, you can see the bright, golden angel he once was. But the heavy muzzle remains in place, and Lehahiah soon returns to looking chained and tormented.

Default Form: Lehahiah is made of rough black marble, in the shape of a muscular man with a ram's head and bird's wings. He is naked except for a bloody, ragged loincloth around his hips, and a blindfold and leather muzzle over his eyes and snout. Dried tears go down the sides of his marble face, looking more like rust water than saline. Heavy rusted chains wrap around his arms and pull his wings tight to his body. A crown of rusted iron sits on his head, between his large curling horns.

Attack Form: Lehahiah's bright form only appears for couple of seconds, at the instant when Flint uses a special attack. With a great feat of strength, Lehahiah spreads his arms and wings, shattering the chains. The rough stone that covers his body flakes off all at once, revealing smooth, clean black marble with bright golden veins (see portoro). His crown becomes pure gold, as does the fabric wrapped around his hips, which now looks clean and regal. Each feather of his broad marble wings look as though they're tipped in gold. Although he stands tall and proud, the muzzle is still in place, as is his blindfold (now gold). When Lehahiah fades from view again, he returns to his default form.

Character Name:Kyra Wilkie

Primary Weapon: Rapier
Combat Style: It's a lot like her daily life. She's relentless, but it's planned out. She goes over a battle plan before each adventure into shadow world. She likes every move she performs to be rehearsed and perfected. Of course, sometimes in real life application, it doesn't quite work out so easily. Kyra tries to account for the unplanned by mapping out a very good method of communication between support and the team. She tries to make contingency plans for everyone's susceptibilities, weaknesses, and strengths. She tries to take into account their preferences too, but (maybe unfortunately,) she's not exactly scared to pull rank when she needs to.

On the actual battlefield, Kyra's a Tiny Tank. She takes her leadership role very literally, and jumps in front of her team to face the danger first. She can take and deal a lot of damage. It might not be all at once, but she makes sure their hits always mean something. She's proactive in asking about weaknesses; she tries to make sure every hit she deals will have an affect before she does it. Kyra's methodical, and not a lot can distract her from the task at hand, which is good except for when something the shadow does comes unexpectedly. Even then, she recovers and doesn't let the team see anything faze her. Kyra isn't one for heroics, but she will never retreat, even if she commands everyone else to do so. Maybe that's a snag in her otherwise perfectly crafted logical fighting style, but she doesn't want to think about the consequences of leaving a job undone. She wants to do this well.

Persona Name:Lauviah, Angel of the Tree of Life
Persona Appearance When Kyra summons her persona, a weeping willow with two faces springs forth. The tree does not move dryad-like, but is stuck in place, the dual faces only sometimes opening their eyes to smile. The movement and magic comes from the tree's hair. On one side, the tree and its face is entirely gilded, gold and sparkling. The entire side of the tree is gold, and drips glitter from its boughs, sprinkling everyone under it with gold dust. It might get into everyone's hair a lot, but it doesn't hold any power by itself. It seems to be constantly blooming. This side is facing the team, usually.

It can switch, usually when Kyra's on the defense and she's nervous. On the other side, there's a sunken skull made of petrified wood. Where there's a tree of life, there has to be death. It's drastically different. The tree, while still stony and beautiful, is dry and fragile-looking. The limbs and branches make crackling sounds as they send magic toward their foes. It seems, though, that with every crackle, the wood becomes more solidified,every attack sinking in to make it stronger.

Hadlee Loxton

Character Name: Hadlee Loxton

Squad Position: Support
Combat Style: Hadlee acts like she's disengaged from her job - she's always very obviously eating candy, she's occasionally whining that she has to pay attention, she's making jokes, she's sort of picking on her teammates. Most of this is because she won't acknowledge how much danger her friends are in. In reality, Hadlee is worried about her team, even though she'd never say it, and she does her best to be attentive and provide coherent information quickly. Even if she delivers it with a lazy drawl.

The more worried she is, the higher pitched her voice gets.

Attribute: Strength - Hadlee might seem lazy, but she pushes hard to get whatever information she possibly can to help her teammates and she can't imagine losing contact with them.

Persona Name: Haziel
Persona Appearance: Haziel's body is a beautiful, curvaceous woman that stands about 12' tall and possesses skin that looks like a disco ball. This Persona possesses no distinct facial features like a mouth or eyes, but the general shape of a nose and eye sockets are there amongst the glittery, reflective squares. Full, wavy blonde hair tumbles around its shoulders and down its back, and a shiny tiara with pink stones rests among its locks. There is nothing about this persona that isn't feminine - even its energy and the way it movements is classically, stereotypically, 'female.'

Though its general form is playful in its brilliance, its clothing is confining and hides most of its reflective skin. It's draped in a bright pink article of clothing that resembles a fashionable cassock with a capelet with a collar that sits high around its throat like a priest's collar. Long sleeves cover its arms, and the hem falls far enough down that only a bit of skin is visible on its lower leg, where its feet disappear into bright pink, high-heeled patent leather boots. The entire look is loud but surprisingly restrictive.

Haziel provides Hadlee with a pair of what look like sunglasses with gems for the lenses to replace her normal glasses - this is how the girl sees into the Shadow World, and how Haziel provides her with information. The Persona actually dons its own pair of matching glasses, and the pair often put them on in unison. It's a little obnoxious.

Zinnia Howe

Character Name: Zinnia Howe

Squad: 2
Squad Position: Member (low)
Primary Weapon: Combat shovel. A long-handled pole topped by a steel spade. One edge is serrated, the other is a blade. It's a pretty brutal looking piece of work.
Combat Style: Zealous. Zinnia's self-conscious about being the least skilled member on her team, and as a result she's a bit of a try-hard. She desperately wants to impress her squad mates and earn her place among them. She's not reckless to the point of disobedience, but she does tend to overextend herself and try things over her skill level. Zinnia's bold, brave, and ready to do whatever it takes.

What Zinnia has in her favor is that she's tough and stubborn as hell. She can take a hit and just keep going, and has a deep-seated instinct to protect people. She uses her shovel to block attacks meant for others, and by sheer force of will can shrug off blows some people might be floored by. She's tenacious and absolutely ready to play hero. Zinnia is particularly eager to follow Dustin's instincts and style, since their ideals often line up.

Attribute: Stamina

Persona Name: Menadel, Angel of Work, can remedy exhaustion, coldness and isolation, cure those who seek glory and success at any cost.
Persona Appearance: Menadel is not the most imposing persona, only about 6' tall if she were to leave her seated position. She sits recumbent on a throne of red velvet and bones that crawls as though alive. Menadel herself has the appearance of a long dead, drying corpse, like a dedicated saint laid to rest in glory. Some parts of her retain the skin (like the tight browning leather over her hands), while others are bare bones. Her skeletal face is covered by a gauzy veil, and she's crowned with luxurious hair ornaments and a golden halo. Her gray hair pours out from under it in waves that match Zinnia's own hairstyle. Every inch of Menadel is adorned in gold and jewels, so when she moves you hear the jingle and rustle of clinking metal. She wears a breast plate with a large heart shaped hole in it, exposing her ribs, which are also covered in jewels. Deep in her chest cavity, there's something glowing, presumably her heart. She's covered in dust and cobwebs, and smells like vanilla and incense.

Menadel seems gentle-natured, and often reaches out as though to touch Zinnia's hair (... or that of her squad mates) soothingly. She only strikes with magic by pointing a ring-covered finger at the enemy, which often causes the ground beneath them to open up, like a grave. When she attacks, the heart glowing inside her becomes momentarily blinding. (References: x)

Character Name: Selby Denman

Squad: 7
Squad Position: Member (Low)
Primary Weapon: Bow & Arrows
Combat Style: Selby isn't a natural combatant; he doesn't have the nerve to charge into the middle of a battle and he doesn't have an iota of killer instinct. He is, however, a loyal and obedient teammate, a protective friend, and an excellent shot (both with his bow and through his Persona). While he'll never be a heavy hitter, he can deal reliable and consistent damage from a distance, draw attention away from his teammates when needed (nothing like an arrow to the eye to change an enemy's focus), and generally help to control movement on the battlefield. He's decent at these strategies himself, but he's particularly adept in the hands of a capable leader and will follow orders thoroughly and completely.

Unfortunately, he struggles when he has to face a Shadow up close and personal. While he no longer freezes up the way he used to last year and he's learned a few basic defensive maneuvers with his bow to hold back the weaker ones, he almost always ends up getting hurt in such situations.

Persona Name: Achaiah
Persona Appearance: Achaiah is a lithe, willowy figure draped in a voluminous white cloak that obscures its body almost entirely from view from neck to knees. The bottom of this garment is lined with a vibrant pattern of gold flowers that are constantly shifting and blooming and growing in different directions, while the top closes in a neat collar around its throat. When it's still, there seems to be no break in the cloak at all, though moments of action will prove this isn't the case, revealing a white-clad figure beneath. Its face, stoic and dark gray like stone or ash, is obscured by a partial mask of bright gold with intricate floral designs, two small antler-like horns, and no openings for eyes, though this doesn't seem to bother the entity. Neither does the golden arrow that's been shot directly through its neck, from which blood and bright flowers both spring.

When Achaiah casts magic, a halo of flowers blooms in the air around it and scatters apart in a shower of petals when the spell is executed. It can be quite beautiful. If Selby runs out of arrows during the course of battle, it can also be relied upon to conjure new (and unconventional) projectiles for him that work surprisingly well.

Despite its unusual appearance, Achaiah is a soothing presence and a faint floral scent hangs in the air around it.

Character Name: Ulrich Roth

Squad: 10
Squad Position: Medium
Primary Weapon: A double-ended drill lance and shield. Yes, it can actually whirl. It's very extra. (The first weapon he tried was the Cloud Strife Buster Sword that Irene had tossed into the weapons pile as a joke.)
Combat Style: Business in the front, party in the back. While Richie's very good at following gameplans, doesn't talk back, and treats dire situations with the appropriate gravity, if the flow of battle is clearly going in his squad's favor, he's prone to "Hey, Watch This!" moments of attempting to pull off flashy stunts that he's convinced will look totally badass.

Things that may or may not actually look badass and have questionable success rates include: trying to get Mitzrael to toss him into the middle of combat, trying to jump onto the back of a suitably large Shadow and ride it, and trying to ride Mitzrael and live up to his namesake via attempted crab jousting.

When fighting in earnest, Richie generally fills a protector role in combat, using his large shield to soak up blows or provide cover for others, willing to sacrifice his own body if it means keeping a teammate safe. With its extra reach, he can also use his lance to keep enemies at a distance or use it more aggressively for a proper stabbiness.

Notably, despite his obvious physical strength, Richie has a tendency to hold back on using it to its fullest potential.

Persona Name: Mitzrael
Persona Appearance: Mitzrael is a heroic yet whimsical Persona, evoking the imagery of a knight atop its noble steed conjured up by someone during a fever dream. The tall romantic figure of legends has been replaced with a still impressively armored, but squat and rotund frog (or is it a toad?) and the traditional white stallion has been eschewed in favor of a gigantic carbonized black crab. Glowing cracks and fissures spread throughout the crab's body and closer inspection of its face reveals that what looks to be a set of teeth is actually the front grill plate of a pot belly stove and the crab itself is apparently an automaton powered by burning coal. This isn't the only oddity about this immense crustacean as the pincers of its front claws are actually extremely large drill bits. [x]

When summoned, Mitzrael bursts forth from the ground as if it had just finished excavating its path of escape from the earth's core and when it attacks, it charges full tilt at its target, leaving a path of carbonized gemstones in its wake.

Thalia Mitchell

NAME: Thalia "Tal" Mitchell
SQUAD: 11
SQUAD POSITION: Member
PRIMARY WEAPON: Kusarigama, or chain-sickle.
COMBAT STYLE:
Tal uses her weapon to fill two roles: battlefield control and damage. The kusarigama's weighted chain can be swung around to force an enemy to keep their distance, or thrown like a lasso to grab a Shadow's weapon/limb and disable them; while the sickle can be stabbed into a Shadow to deal damage. Her magic also seems better tailored for trapping/disabling enemies than dealing hits. This works well in her favour, as Tal is a petite girl who can get knocked out with one-aimed smack.

Despite her obvious combat strengths and weaknesses, Tal's preferred strategy is still "run in and hit things," and every time she's knocked down just makes her more resolved to go harder next time. She's always impatient to get things done as fast and direct as possible. Her misguided enthusiasm can get her in trouble, but she does ultimately know that a team only works if everyone works together, and just needs a bit of reminding to slow down and think things through.


ATTRIBUTE: Balance

PERSONA NAME: Cahetel (Angel of Divine Blessings)
PERSONA APPEARANCE:
Cahetel's form is made up of flowers, stitched together like a soft shell encasing an invisible figure. Her body is humanoid but amorphous, sometimes distinctly feminine and sometimes distinctly masculine. (Despite Cahetel's androgynous appearance, Tal thinks of her Persona as a "she.") From her core, roughly where a human heart would be, emanates a very soft, natural-looking light, like afternoon sunlight streaming through a tree canopy.

The flowers covering Cahetel's invisible skin constantly bloom and change colours, in bright rainbow jewel tones. Petals fall liberally from her body when she moves. When damaged by an enemy, Cahetel shows injury by having flowers brown and die off. New flowers will always appear to fill in gaps and maintain the Persona's shape.

Beside Cahetel floats a carnival-style wheel of fortune ( see HERE for a shitty rendering ) that is made of mirrored panels: a pentagram in the center, and panels around the edge with symbols representing different battle actions. Whenever Tal takes action in battle, Cahetel spins the wheel, although she'll often "cheat" by bumping or nudging the wheel so the selected panel matches what Tal wants to do. Cahetel is 7-8 feet tall, and her wheel is 10 feet tall.

Primary Weapon: An underwater rifle. Petra's is nearly indistinguishable from a normal rifle, except, of course, in that it can fire underwater. As is common to amphibious firearms, it shoots tiny flechettes instead of bullets which make a distinctive buzzing sound when fired.
Combat Style: Strong, steady, and dependable โ€” until the exact moment when she's not. Petra brings her sharpshooting skills to the battlefield, where she can be trusted to strike any reasonable target (and a few unreasonable ones, too) with precision and accuracy, and although she's not carrying a sniper, she likes the challenge of shooting from a great distance or odd angles.

Cheerful in the face of danger, while Petra has no intention of taking unnecessary risks, she also isn't one to flee from a fight. She'll hold her position even as the tides turn against her, making her a valuable defensive asset if others need to beat a hasty retreat. Unfortunately, that same trait can make her difficult to work with in chaotic situations โ€” while she's happy to follow someone's instructions if they explain what to do and why, she never follows orders blindly, and will blatantly break rank if she disagrees with her leaders. Thankfully, that hasn't happened too often... yet.

Persona Name: Harahel โ€” angel of abundance, productivity, and practical intelligence
Persona Appearance: Harahel takes the form of, well, an angel. She's a cemetery statue, a beautiful woman with long feathered wings, made of a strange white rock that looks like marble, if marble had the rough, porous texture of old concrete. Her edges are chipped and her features are slowly wearing away โ€” not just from the power of time alone (although she does appear surprisingly ancient), but also because she's being slowly subsumed by the earth.

Moss is growing over its right side, and creeping vines, moonflower and ivy, wrap its way around her base, her arms, her hands. Sometimes, the plants bloom โ€” trumpet blossoms, usually. There are cracks in the stone where roots have taken hold, and inside those crumbling spaces you can see the warm, red-white-gold glow of citrine and quartz geodes.

Occasionally, when you look at her, it seems as though, perhaps, the vines are carved from crystal and rock, and the broken spaces are filled with flowers. Petra's not sure what that means, but it makes her feel very strange to look at it, and she's always relieved when it goes back to normal after a few good blinks.

Combat Style: Eva is agile, and that's what makes her useful. A lifelong dancer, Eva knows how to move her body, reserve her energy for later, and how to anticipate others based on their body language. She prides herself on being a team player, preferring to support others and play backup when they have a wild plan. While not much of an ideas man, Eva thinks of herself as a versatile member of the team โ€” especially since her weapon can be used both long-range and melee as just a blunt instrument, so whatever any of you need, she's there for you.

Persona Name: Poyel
Persona Appearance: Poyel looks like someoneโ€™s last minute art project. A stumpy, clunky pile of stones in the vague shape of a person, Poyel stomps around with an utter lack of grace, swaying dangerously, ready to topple over at any minute. The details on Poyelโ€™s face and body are formed by cracks and wrinkles in the stone, this one looking like a crumpled brow and this jagged bump forming a nose. Some people might find his blunt, nearly featureless face off-putting, not knowing where to look if and when they need to, but theyโ€™ll want that blank slate right the hell back when he smiles.

Because Poyel does have a mouth, a horizontal crack in the rock that normally remains closed until thereโ€™s a reason to open it and reveal two rows of straight white teeth and no lips. No one ever wants to see a rock with teeth, and Eva considers it to be his hidden special attack.

Primary Weapon: Bolas
Combat Style: Highly dependent on the people he's fighting with. Junior performs best with those he knows well, and is most successful when he's able to deliberately think about, and play off of, his squad's strengths. Because he never second-guesses orders, he's most useful to a strong leader with clear, thoughtful plans; someone reckless, who needs their team to act as a "checkpoint," will get a dangerous yes-man in Junior.

Nimble and dextrous, he tends to hover on the edges of a fight until an opening emerges, at which point, he'll jump in and make a precision strike. His bolas, when wielded correctly, almost act like a third hand โ€” allowing him to tie and grab and pull from a distance โ€” and his favourite move is to yank his opponent's weapon out of their hands. He also likes to trip enemies, AT-AT style.

For someone who often comes across as a giant dingus, Junior is actually a relatively quick thinker in the heat of battle and, if left alone, can come up with creative solutions to difficult problems. Unfortunately, he can sometimes distract himself by trying to anticipate what his teammates want him to do, rather than what he should be doing. Sometimes, this means that he's perfectly and seemingly-intuitively in the right position, able to preempt his leadership's orders... but other times, he guesses wrong and is exactly in the way. This trick is not unhelpful in itself, and when he pulls it off, it's an incredible boon. It's just that, when he doesn't, it's likely exasperating.

Persona Name: Yehuiah
Persona Appearance: You'd be forgiven for thinking missing Yehuiah on the battle field; at first glance, the angel of subordination really does look like nothing more than a small pile of sand โ€” about three feet in diameter and 4-5 inches high. On closer inspection, however, and in the right light, it becomes clear that those little gravity-defying wisps at the apex are where sand fuses into glass.

Indeed, in reality, Yehuiah is a giant humanoid creature with a tendency to stand immediately behind Junior, wherever he goes. His otherworldly crystal-glass body isn't translucent at all; instead, it merely approximates invisibility by reflecting its surroundings... more or less. Say you're standing in an open field. If you look in Yehuiah's direction, you'll likely see whatever it is that's directly in front of him. Or, you may see something close โ€” same flowers, same shrubs, but there's a little rabbit rubbing through his frame that definitely isn't there in the physical space.

Mostly, his mirror act stays very, very close, although there are two exceptions: In the midst of a battle, Yehuiah may reflect something completely unrelated and when Junior stands in front of him, he doesn't reflect anything at all.

Character Name: Glenn Turnbull

Primary Weapon: Sword & shield
Combat Style: For someone who's so reserved and calculated in his personal life, Glenn is a blunt force weapon on the battle field. His tactics failing to evolve past "see Shadow, hit with sword" caused him to lag behind in training initially, but working with Scout and the rest of Squad One has tempered him and helped him grow. Still, his approach is direct. His impulse is always to be the first to engage in battle, and although deferring to Scout means that he very rarely gets to be first in the turn order, he's reckless in a way that his leader isn't. He doesn't mean to disobey orders, but if he sees opportunities, he has a hard time not taking them - even if it'll put him in danger or throw a wrench in Scout's plans.

When he's not pulling a Leeroy Jenkins, he's a good addition to the team. He'd be a better defensive fighter than an offensive one if he committed himself to it. His self-sacrificing nature means he's happy to put himself and his shield between a Shadow and a teammate, and Vasariah is capable of creating Physical Barriers, a skill he's known about for awhile but is only just coming to employ in combat. He was a slow learner when it came to summoning and getting a hold on his persona's abilities last year, and still tends to rely on himself more than his magical abilities.

Persona Name: Vasariah, angel of clemency
Persona Appearance: Vasariah takes the form of a haloed, feminine standard-bearer, evocative of a sainted Joan of Arc. She looks like a large, three dimensional piece of embroidery which is loose or fraying. Her appearance becomes clearly and tightly-stitched when Glenn focuses on her or using her abilities, but the majority of the time she looks a mess.

Her sword, halo, and flag appear to be rendered in quicksilver instead of thread. Her flag bears the heraldry of the Scottish clan Turnbull.
