CLUBS
Sponsor: Félix Moreno
President: Kodi Members: Adam, Clarissa, Dustin, Emma, Flint, Glenn, Henry, Jude, Justice, Kodi, Kyra, Marina, Martin, Marzio, Meredith, Neal, Pansy, Portia, Roland, Russell, Sabrina, Scout, Slade, Suzy, Thalia, Ulrich, Yvette, Zinnia For the students that don't get enough physical activity with training and fighting Shadows, there's Athletics! Each week, the students gather to play sports and have some (often ovely competitive) fun. The games played and the teams playing change every week. Mr. Moreno isn't actually a big sports guy and he's sponsoring this club as a favor to the students. He almost always begins meetings with an unwanted tangent about the physics of sports, much to the chagrin of...nearly everyone. But he's a very fair referee, at least? Sponsor: Carmen Hayward
President: Pearl Members: Blake, Dallas, Dustin, Eva, Hadlee, Henry, Jude, Luke, Mason, Meredith, Noah, Nora, Portia, Russell, Sullivan, Thalia, Venus Ms. Hayward is as serious about Choir as she is about Music and, while anyone can join Choir, she'll push everyone to pull their weight. Those that aren't particularly skilled may find themselves being recruited into additional solo lessons whether they want them or not. That said, the Choir is well-polished and performs an impressive variety of songs. There are multiple concerts, both at school and around Haling Cove, throughout the year.
When it's time for the school musical, they collaborate with the Drama Club! Sponsor: Ronnie Moon & Ambrose Nash
President: Scout Members: Cecilia, Dallas, Dustin, Eva, Flint, Glenn, Josephine, Jude, Kodi, Liam, Lillian, Lyle, Martin, Meredith, Monet, Neal, Nora, Pearl, Quincey, Sabrina, Selby, Tate, Ulrich Community Outreach is all about helping the local communities! Members will be taken into Haling Cove or surrounding areas to volunteer in soup kitchens, nursing homes, animal rescues, hospitals, and anywhere else that needs a helping hand. Unlike most clubs, Community Outreach only occurs every few weekends and students will spend most of the day away from campus. Usually, the club ends their day with a dinner or a group outing of some kind. Unfortunately, this is the primary reason that some students participate.
Sponsor: Penelope Langbroek
President: Eva Members: Ashton, Dallas, Gregory, Hadlee, Hamsi, Kodi, Kyra, Marina, Martin, Meredith, Neal, Russell, Suzy, Thalia, Venus Not a trained dancer herself, Mrs. Langbroek facilitates this club more than she teaches, though she's always happy to provide encouragement! The Dance Club is often just students getting together in the dance studio to practice, collaborate on routines, or hold classes to introduce each other to new forms, though they'll occasionally do something more formal. They've had their fair share of dance-offs and showcases.
When it's time for the school musical, they collaborate with the Drama Club! Sponsor: Klara Kowalczyk & Ronnie Moon
President: Venus Members: Adam, Blake, Cecilia, Dallas, Donovan, Dustin, Emma, Eva, Francesca, Glenn, Hadlee, Jude, Luke, Mason, Noah, Nora, Pearl, Russell, Sullivan, Suzy, Zinnia Members of the Drama Club spend their time learning about the craft of acting (through scenes, monologues, improv, etc.) and putting on a show (building sets and props, making costumes, etc.). While most students focus on one side or the other, there are those that move back and forth between the disciplines. There are two school-wide productions each year: a play and a musical. While the Drama Club students aren't guaranteed to get the leads or prominent positions in the production, they usually have an advantage. A former Drama Kid, Ms. Kowalczyk is an enthusiastic sponsor that involves herself in everything! Mr. Moon is just happy to be here and helps the kids realize their set design concepts safely. Sponsor: Cassandra Voss
President: [OPEN] Members: Atticus, Blake, Cecilia, Clarissa, Dallas, Donovan, Eli, Emma, Flint, Glenn, Hamsi, Henry, Josephine, Justice, Kyra, Liam, Lillian, Luke, Mason, Meredith, Neal, Noah, Pansy, Roland, Russell, Sabrina, Shiloh, Slade, Sullivan, Suzy, Ulrich The Gaming Club exists as a sort of weekly Game Night for Finchwood Academy students. Members gather to play board games, card games, tabletop roleplaying games, and video games (though members have to supply the consoles). Ms. Voss, who sponsors the club, occasionally uses willing members as guinea pigs in testing out the RPG she's been programming in her spare time for the last few years. It's pretty fun but she's changed the name so many times nobody can quite keep track of it. Sponsor: Flora
President: Selby Members: Atticus, Cecilia, Eli, Emma, Glenn, Gregory, Liam, Lillian, Monet, Noah, Pearl, Petra, Shiloh, Tate, Thalia, Ulrich, Zinnia The rooftop of the academic building is covered in an impressive network of gardens and greenhouses that are maintained by Flora, her assistants, and the Gardening Club. While most of the plants are the typical flowers, fruits, and vegetables that such a club would grow, one of the greenhouses (usually kept locked) is filled with otherworldly specimens with strange properties that are used by Iason to create healing poltices and potions. Only those that earn Flora's trust are allowed access to this greenhouse.
Sponsor: Jay Bhattacharya
President: Flint Members: Gregory, Josephine, Liam, Lucille, Luke, Lyle, Marina, Marzio, Mason, Quincey, Selby, Venus, Zinnia The Print Club produces a newspaper for Finchwood Academy twice a month that reports on school events, local happenings, entertainment, sports, and anything else the students deem noteworthy. It also includes horoscopes, themed lists, personal ads and other just-for-fun content that leaves Mr. Bhattacharya thoroughly exasperated. Most members do at least some writing, though some may focus on research or photography. The Print Club is also responsible for putting together the annual yearbook! Sponsor: Lenore
President: Neal Members: Adam, Cecilia, Flint, Kodi, Kyra, Liam, Lillian, Nora, Petra, Sabrina, Scout, Suzy, Venus The Student Council has a lot of responsibility and each member must be approved by the staff prior to joining. After that, though, the group is allowed quite a bit of autonomy and works together to enforce the school rules, brainstorm and organize school events, and bring student concerns or suggestions to the staff. While members of the Student Council have the authority to give detention and restrict privilages of other students, these must be submitted to the Student Council President and reviewed by staff (aka - a mod) before they're carried out. See the Rules & FAQ section for more information about the school rules. Lenore is the sponsor of the Student Council but she rarely attends meetings and is more of a helpful contact than a leader; that role falls to Neal Valentine, the current president. |
