Hi Marin! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. With regard to Noah's questions and super nice card...
Mr. Gladstone seems tired and maybe a little frazzled when the students arrive for Wildcard class on Saturday. Apart from that, though, one would never guess he'd just returned from the hospital. When Noah delivers the card, the man is obviously surprised but touched, then just surprised (is that an eggplant?), then amused but exasperated. He lifts the card up enough to hide his face for a moment before he thanks the boy.
The questions are quick to distract him from the card, though, and he sets it down on the corner of the desk. There's something resigned about it, as if he expected them to hear about this eventually. He tells Noah that he's been having health problems for a few years; it's nothing serious, but his symptoms have been acting up lately. While he doesn't go into the details of his diagnosis, he does say that there's some likelihood he'll be spending more time in Portland. He reassures him that he doesn't intend to let this get in the way of what they're doing here, though.
That said...it's time to get down to the lesson! He leaves the card standing on the corner of the desk.
